Like Making Jewelry?

Finally, a review of a website that is right up my alley! Through Fiverr.com I was introduced to the following website:
http://www.photojewelrymaking.com/

I'm a huge artist and crafter - I've done everything from spin yarn to acrylic painting to metal etching and everything in between!! So this site is really awesome for someone like me (and I'm not gonna lie, it's tempting me to start yet another hobby lol). It contains everything you need to create photo jewelry and other photo items! That includes findings, adhesives, blanks, and so much more.

The company itself is headquartered in Michigan, where it is a family-run business. However, the company ships internationally and sells items worldwide! Their site includes great instructional videos to help any buyer learn the basics of using the supplies they purchase from the site to create their own photo jewelry. In addition, they offer an online chat feature so you can get customer service at an instant if you need it. If you sign up for their newsletter, you can receive special offers and discounts.

The site is extremely comprehensive - I didn't even realize all the different ways to make photo products!! My favorite part is that they offer home business kits for those of us who try to make a living at our small businesses - http://www.photojewelrymaking.com/homebusinesskits.aspx

Overall, I really recommend looking into this site if you love creating unique products or if you are looking for a supplemental home business idea!

Cool New Networking Site

The world of writing reviews for the website Fiverr.com has opened my eyes to many great new sites. I was recently asked to review a new site that is a really neat new business networking site called FoundTown.

FoundTown is located at http://www.foundtown.com/ and is currently only in its Beta stages which is why it's only located in a few towns in Texas. However, the site plans on expanding to areas all over the country next year.

The site is kind-of like Groupon meets Facebook for businesses - it's this way of connecting customers to their local businesses, and lets local businesses share specials, coupons, and giveaways right there on the site.

For customers, the best advantages are that you can get great deals from your local businesses, and it's free to join the site.

For businesses, its a great way to advertise and get your name out there for little to nothing (I am not sure if they charge businesses a fee, but even if they did I'm assuming it would be pretty darn cheap!). It's probably a heck of a lot more successful than putting your fliers up around town and hoping they get seen before they get torn down or buried!!

I hope that FoundTown comes to my area soon! In the meantime, I recommend any of you who are in the areas in Texas that are covered by the site currently would consider joining up on the site!

Awesome new product - results to follow!

It's that time of year where many of us feel stumped about what to get the guys or gals in our lives. Recently on Fiverr I was asked to review a new product called MagnaBlade. It's this really neat little piece of equipment that extends the life of your razors using a magnetic technology.

Here is the website:
http://magnablade.com/

I was really excited to be asked to review this product, as my hubs goes through razors faster than a dog can chew a milkbone.... or something. ;) lol. But seriously, he gets so tired of dull razors nicking his face that he literally goes on "I won't shave" streaks for weeks at a time, something that I personally am not a fan of (I hate kisses that feel like I'm being poked with toothpicks!! Facial hair is sooooo gross to me). Not only that, but I hate that when I go to use my razor, I find that it has been dulled because my hubs has stolen mine to shave with once he runs out of razors!!

We just received the product yesterday, and I was really pleased with how small it is. It would fit nicely on the edge of the sink in our bathroom without taking up a whole lot of space, and it's not unattractive either. We've both watched the video on the website, and it seems simple enough to use.

So, we'll find out how this works! My hubs will be using it this week and we will get back to you. In the meantime, I'm pretty excited about this new product!

Favorites Friday!

It's been a while since I've done this, so I thought it was time to re-instate Favorites Friday! :)

Here is a shop I recently discovered that I instantly fell in love with:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TitaniumRingsStudio

They have the most beautiful collection of really affordable artisan rings - perfect for wedding and engagement, or just because! I love that they have a large range of sizes that they offer, including half sizes and quarter sizes, and I love all the different colors and styles. Here is one of my favorites:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/58204770/titanium-ring-sable-with-two-blue

If you are in the market for a ring, or know someone that is, I really recommend this shop!!!

Local Apartment Fire Donations

Last night there was an apartment fire at the building in which my brother-in-law and his family live in. It appears to have started in the apartment directly below theirs. While they all made it out safely, they were unable to grab any belongings, clothes, or their family cat.

They've lost everything, and though they have renter's insurance, it will be a while before they can recover the things they have lost. In the meantime, I ask all of you to please keep their family in your prayers, and if you are in the local Omaha area or want to ship any donations, please contact me and I can give you information on how to get them to us.

For clothes, we are looking for Kids sizes 6T, 4T, and 2T and Adult sizes Women's size 22/2XL and Men's size 32/36 / XL. We also need adult shoes sizes Women's 11 Wide and Men's 12.

Other helpful donations would be: towels, hygiene/grocery items, gift cards/cash, a few toys for the kids (not a whole lot), small dog food, winter coats, pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, etc. Mostly we are looking for things they can use while they temporarily stay at a relative's house, and not as many of the big items until they are able to find another place to live (though we are willing to store some things at our house for them if we need to). The best option would be the gift cards and cash so that they are able to go get what they need when they need it, and go out for dinners so they don't have to worry about groceries as much while they stay with their relatives.

If you are interested in donating anything, please go to: http://www.javajesspublishing.com and fill out the "Contact Us" form - I try not to post my email address on the internet usually if possible.

Another website review

This is another Fiverr website review! Once again, I've been asked to review a site from the UK, so I'm sorry to all my American readers.

I recently received an order from a business called Online Connect, who sells items such as Color Photocopiers. Normally, I only blog about craft businesses, but with the economy being so bad I decided I'd go ahead and do it. :)

The Online Connect website is set up so that it is very easy to use, and you can compare several products at once. They have a wide variety of Photocopiers, Printers, and Fax Machines, as well as many other options for office equipment. Their color photocopiers selection is very expansive!!

As a business that uses a variety of printers for a variety of projects, I think it is great that there are sites such as Online Connect out there who offer such a wide variety of photocopiers and printers!

Here is their website: http://www.onlineconnect.co.uk/colour-photocopiers.html

If you have any questions about them or what they offer, there is a number at the top of their website that you can call . :)

Best Gluten Free Simple Cookies EVER!!!!

It's been almost a full year since I had to go gluten free (per my doc), and it's been difficult finding "goodies" that I like that aren't dry and kinda gross. The few I have found cost a whole lot more than I'd generally like to spend just to enjoy a cookie or a cupcake. :(

Yesterday, I decided to experiment with a Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix to make some cookies. I didn't use the chocolate cake mix because I'm also allergic to caffeine/chocolate, but I bet they would also work!

You'll laugh at how easy these are to make, yet how delicious they turn out!!

I made two versions, but once you get the hang of it you could basically make any kind of cookie you desire. :) This doesn't make a whole lot of cookies if you make them large like I do, but they are worth every single bite!

Gluten Free Super Moist Pistachio Cookies
1 Box Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix*
1 Box Pistachio Jello Pudding Mix*
1/2 c. oil
2 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together until they form a wet yet clumpy batter. Place heaping tablespoons or rounded balls of the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, a few inches apart since they spread a little. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the bottoms have just started to brown but they are still slightly moist on top. Let cool on cookie rack.

You can still enjoy while they are warm, or just eat them cool. Either way, they are light and crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside! :)

Gluten Free Super Moist Cheesecake and Reese's Pieces Cookies
1 Box Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix*
1 Box Cream Cheese Jello Pudding*
1/2 c. oil
2 eggs
1/2 c. Reese's Pieces

Follow same baking instructions as above!

*Since I have a gluten allergy, I have to use these specific brands. However, if you do not have a gluten allergy, you should be able to substitute a regular cake mix and a store brand pudding if you'd like!

Enjoy!! Feel free to post comments of other mixtures you try, or how they turn out for you! I think I personally will need to invest in some Betty Crocker and Jello stock lol!! ;) My next batch will probably be Coconut Cream Pie Cookies... mmmmmm....

Fiverr and a Review - Got Bad Credit?

So, you all know that I love to introduce you to new ways you can make money online, or build your business for cheap/free. Recently I discovered the following site called Fiverr, and was blown away by how totally cool it is! :) I know that I will be using it to build my business, and I can pay for it by adding my own gigs that I will do for $5.

But this review isn't actually on Fiverr - I already had someone contact me to earn $5 for reviewing their business and giving it some love here on the blog! :)

Without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Wonga.com.

Wonga.com is a really neat company geared towards those who live in England, though I'm sure they get applicants from other places as well. It's a lending company that considers applicants who have bad credit (note: bad credit does not mean bad debt) and gives out loans to help them with what they need. It's a way for folks who maybe had problems in the past but are now doing fine to get a loan without having their bad credit get in the way.

As an example, when I first got married my credit score went down quite a bit due to my husband's bad credit. He was in the military, and had been missing credit card payments whenever he got sent overseas (which was often, because he was in satellite communications). Since then, we have been able to build up our credit quite a bit, but at first we had a hard time getting any kind of loan or financing due to the bad credit history. With Wonga, we probably would have been able to get a loan that we needed despite the previous history of bad credit!!

Cool, right?

So for any of you that are interested, here is the website one more time: http://www.wonga.com/money/bad-credit/ .

Check them out today!

The Gluten Free "Unza", or Un-Runza

Before I begin, I'm not affiliated with Runza nor do I want to get sued by them. However, when trying to eat gluten-free, you often have to take your favorite foods and modify them in order to ever get to have them again. So, I love you Runza restaurant and I still think your food is soooo AWESOME! :) If you ever have a gluten-free Runza sandwich and other gluten-free offerings, I'd be there in a heartbeat!

That being said, for those of you who aren't aware of what a Runza is, here is their website: http://www.runza.com/ . It's basically like a bierock, except better. I have no other way to describe it! lol. I grew up on these and miss them tremendously, along with Runza fries and onion rings because they are better than any other fast food restaurant... but sadly, I really can't order anything from Runza because they don't have gluten free options. Maybe someday. So, if you don't have a Gluten allergy and live in an area that has a Runza, go buy theirs first!! Even if you don't live in the area but have family or friends that do, you can actually order Runzas in bulk, frozen, and then have them bring the sandwiches out to you or figure out how to ship them to you.

Otherwise, if you have a gluten allergy or aren't able to go get a real Runza, then this is for you. I did a little research on various recipes for Runzas on the internet, and combined them along with my own ideas as to what would work to create an AWESOME gluten free runza-like sandwich!

My Gluten Free "Un"za:

Ingredients:
1 bag of cole slaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
2 lbs of ground beef
1 onion, diced
Salt and Pepper to Taste
1 tsp Olive oil
Pamela's Gluten Free Bread Mix and Flour Blend
6 packages of Chebe Gluten Free Pizza Crusts, thawed
Cooking Spray
Butter (if desired)

Brown the hamburger over medium heat in a large saucepan with the diced onion until no longer pink, seasoned lightly with some salt and pepper. Drain the grease and return the pan to the heat. Add the bagged cabbage mix and 1 tsp olive oil and cook until the cabbage is soft and slightly translucent. Set aside.
Meanwhile, prepare a surface (I use a cutting board, but you could use wax paper or a cookie sheet) with a medium pile of Pamela's mix. Also preheat the oven to 350 degrees and put out a large baking pan/cookie sheet, 12X14 or larger if possible so you only have to do one batch, and sprinkle it with some Pamela's and spray with a cooking spray. Flour your hands with the Pamela's, then remove the Chebe crusts from their packages *Note: they will be extremely sticky, so you may need to re-flour your hands often to get all of the dough out*. Place the dough onto the pile of Pamelas, then roll into a large ball. Flour your hands, then remove a fist-sized amount from the large ball. Flatten that smaller ball on the floured surface to desired thickness *Note: if you go too thin, it will just break when you try to wrap it around the filling, so you have to keep it fairly thick*.
Place desired amount of filling into the center of your flattened circle of dough, then carefully bring up the edges to form a pocket and pinch them to seal *think hot pocket, or Runza if you have seen one before)*. Take this filled sandwich and place it seal-side down on the baking pan/sheet. Repeat until you have used all the dough and filling.
If desired, brush some melted butter over the top of each sandwich. Place the filled pan in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or so, depending on the size of your sandwiches.

Enjoy! :)

This recipe makes a whole lot of filling, so if you want to make smaller amount of servings just use fewer Chebe crusts and freeze any leftover filling. You can then thaw it and reheat it later for other batches!!
I like the pizza crust taste, but it's not as similar to original Runzas as the Chebe sandwich buns would be, so feel free to switch it up and see what you like best. You can also add a slice of cheese inside each circle before adding the filling to make the Runza with cheese variety. Or, you can top them with cheese when they come up, which is what my husband does!
